WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CIDER AND CIDRE?
The difference between cider and cidre is all down to recipe. Cider is a fermented alcoholic beverage made from apple juice and varies in alcohol content from 2% abv to 8.5% abv. Cider is made from a combination of a variety of apples. [Some cider producers use a variety of up to 15 different types of apples.] Production on such a scale, with this many varieties, often requires the addition of modifiers such as concentrates, synthetic flavourings, and other unnatural additives to ensure a consistent colour and taste. Cidres French home is Normandy where it has been savoured [loved, adored and drank] since the Middle Ages. Lefevre Pure French Cidre consists of a beautiful blend of apples - bittersweet apples and normal eating apples (all grown in France). French cidre apples [the bittersweet variants] are not suitable for eating and only display their true virtues when they are pressed and fermented in the cidre making process. The combination of French cidre apples and the normal eating apples make for the perfect blend. And in the hands of the Lefevre family - make for a unique and refreshing cidre.
